On Dec. 1, communities around the world will observe the 39th World AIDS Day. It’s a day to remember the people we’ve lost to AIDS-related illnesses and to stand with the more than 40 million people living with HIV today.
The tools to end HIV already exist. Daily pills and long-acting injections can prevent it, and people who get diagnosed and start treatment early can expect to live long, healthy lives. Still, about 32,000 people in the U.S. acquire HIV each year, largely because of stigma and uneven access to testing, prevention and care.
Nine in 10 people living with HIV are of working age, so the workplace is one of the best places to close those gaps. The benefits a company offers and the way its leaders talk about HIV can shape whether employees feel safe getting tested and staying in care.

That’s why the U.S. Business Action to End HIV has released the 2026 edition of its free World AIDS Day Toolkit for Employers. The guide outlines six ways your company can celebrate Dec. 1 and shares examples from employers already making progress on HIV. It also includes links to trusted testing and education resources, ready-to-use social media posts, a free Zoom background and ideas for keeping momentum going long after World AIDS Day.
Whether this is your organization’s first time recognizing World AIDS Day or you’re looking to expand what you already do, the toolkit offers a clear place to start.

U.S. Business Action to End HIV was founded in 2022 by the Health Action Alliance, with support from ViiV Healthcare, to mobilize the private sector to help end HIV in the U.S. We offer free tools, resources, and events to help employers educate workers, fight stigma, improve access to HIV prevention and treatment services, and build connections to the communities that need it most.
