U.S. Business Action to End HIV Shares Business Case for 2027 HIV Funding With Congressional Leaders

The Coalition shared the case for sustained investment in federal HIV programs in a letter to the lawmakers and during a visit to Capitol Hill.

As Congress works toward fiscal year 2027 appropriations, U.S. Business Action to End HIV is elevating the voices of businesses committed to helping our nation end the HIV epidemic.

Last week, the Coalition sent a letter to Senate and House Appropriations leadership underscoring the importance of expanded appropriations for the Ryan White HIV/AIDS program, the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), CDC's Division of HIV Prevention, and the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative — the programs that can make the President Trump’s goal to end the HIV epidemic in the U.S. by 2030 achievable.

These programs are delivering measurable results: New transmissions have declined 12% since 2019, with a 21% reduction in communities targeted by the EHE initiative. Maintaining this progress requires funding that keeps pace with rising demand.

In addition to sending the letter, a delegation of business leaders from U.S. Business Action to End HIV traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet in person with Republican lawmakers on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS), making the case directly for sustained investment in HIV prevention, treatment, and care.

Ending HIV is a historic opportunity. With sustained leadership and strong FY2027 appropriations, Congress can protect decades of progress, advance the president's 2030 goal, and deliver a lasting public health and economic achievement for the country.

The private sector is engaged, and with five years to the finish line, the Coalition is proud to join the chorus of advocates asking Congress to stay on track toward 2030.

The Coalition's public policy engagement is led by the Government Relations and Public Affairs Cohort, a working group of Coalition members who meet biweekly to bring the business voice to HIV policy. Through direct engagement with policymakers, congressional offices, and federal officials, the cohort champions sustained investment in prevention and treatment, access to care, and public-private collaboration. This work is supported by Coalition presenting partner ViiV Healthcare and cohort partner Merck.
