This year will mark the 38th annual World AIDS Day, observed on Dec. 1 each year to support people living with HIV and remember the millions of lives lost since the first reported cases of AIDS in June 1981.
Since then, great strides have been made; thanks to game-changing medical advancements, HIV is now a preventable, manageable condition.
Despite this progress, persistent stigma and unequal access to care have enabled HIV to spread, with approximately 32,000 new transmissions in the U.S. each year. Ending this epidemic is possible, and given that 91% of people with HIV are of working age, employers have an important role to play.
That’s why we’re proud to release the 2025 edition of our "World AIDS Day Toolkit for Employers" — a free, easy-to-use guide with actionable ideas to help business leaders reduce stigma, close gaps in care, and strengthen workplace policies that support people living with HIV.
Inside, you’ll find six impactful ways to honor World AIDS Day, ideas for year-round engagement, sample social media posts, links to trusted resources, and spotlights on how leading companies are taking action.
Whether you're planning your first World AIDS Day initiative or building on existing efforts, this toolkit can help you take action in your workplace.
U.S. Business Action to End HIV was founded in 2022 by the Health Action Alliance, with support from ViiV Healthcare, to mobilize the private sector to help end HIV in the U.S. We offer free tools, resources, and events to help employers educate workers, fight stigma, improve access to HIV prevention and treatment services, and build connections to the communities that need it most.
