On April 15, the Health Action Alliance officially launched Extreme Weather + Work, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to help employers prepare for the growing risks posed by extreme heat, wildfires, floods, and storms. E&E News reporters Chelsea Harvey and Ariel Wittenberg covered the launch, spotlighting the 11 founding member companies, including Google and Disney, that have committed to building a more climate-resilient workforce.

Extreme weather events jeopardize employee safety, drive up health care costs, and threaten economic productivity, yet relatively few companies are prepared to respond, researchers say. Extreme Weather + Work aims to close that gap.

The initiative, developed in partnership with Mercer, gives employers a structured community to share research, resources, and best practices for protecting workers from extreme weather.
