On April 15, the Health Action Alliance officially launched Extreme Weather + Work, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to help employers prepare for the growing risks posed by extreme heat, wildfires, floods, and storms. E&E News reporters Chelsea Harvey and Ariel Wittenberg covered the launch, spotlighting the 11 founding member companies, including Google and Disney, that have committed to building a more climate-resilient workforce.
Extreme weather events jeopardize employee safety, drive up health care costs, and threaten economic productivity, yet relatively few companies are prepared to respond, researchers say. Extreme Weather + Work aims to close that gap.
The initiative, developed in partnership with Mercer, gives employers a structured community to share research, resources, and best practices for protecting workers from extreme weather.

Extreme Weather + Work is an initiative of the Health Action Alliance. We bring together leaders who rarely sit in the same room and connect them with peers across industries, giving them the research and tools they need to support their people before, during, and after extreme weather.
