Hollywood shapes how millions of people understand HIV.
The Hollywood + HIV Collective exists to make sure the media and entertainment industry gets that right — on screen and behind the scenes.
Our Approach
We work with companies and creators to combat HIV stigma where Hollywood has unique power to act: on screen and in the workplace. Our work includes:
Partnering with storytellers to bring more modern HIV stories to the screen — including stories of people thriving with HIV.
Connecting creators to trusted HIV expertise so stories are accurate and free of stigma.
Convening entertainment professionals, employers, and community leaders to drive collective action.
Providing practical employer tools for HIV prevention, care, and inclusion.
Our Why
HIV is preventable and treatable, but stigma keeps people from getting the care they need. The result: One in eight people with HIV in the U.S. don't know they have it, and 80 percent of new transmissions come from people unaware of their status or not in care.
Hollywood can be part of the solution. HIV is still largely absent from mainstream storytelling — and when it appears, it often reflects outdated narratives. The Hollywood + HIV Collective exists to help the industry change that, both on screen and in the workplace.
